7 Comedian-Starring Sitcoms You (Probably) Forgot About

Moviefone
April 7, 2015 - 1 min read

There have been tons of TV shows headlined by stand-up comics over the years, but not all of them can be hits like "Seinfeld," "Ellen," "Martin," "Roseanne," or "Everybody Goes Raymond." Take a look at 7 comedian-starring sitcoms you (probably) forgot about.

'Bless This House' (Andrew Dice Clay)

Dirty-mouthed Dice headlined this CBS sitcom about an New Jersey postal worker, his family, and their wacky neighbors. It was panned and only lasted between September 1995 and January 1996.

'The George Carlin Show' (George Carlin)

Legendary comic George Carlin starred as George O'Grady, an eccentric New York City taxi driver. "The George Carlin Show" only lasted between January 1994 and July 1995.

'Wanda at Large' (Wanda Sykes)

The hilarious Wanda Sykes stole scenes in "Curb Your Enthusiasm," but unfortunately her Fox sitcom "Wanda at Large" only made it 2 seasons. Sykes played Wanda Hawkins, an opinionated comic-turned-political-talk-show-correspondant.

'The Jeff Foxworthy Show' (Jeff Foxworthy)

Fresh off the incredible success of the whole "you might be a redneck..." routine, Jeff Foxworthy scored his own sitcom in 1995. The show centered around a Southern AC repair man adjusting to life in Indiana with his family. ABC canceled the first season, but NBC picked it up for the second, moving the setting to Georgia. Haley Joel "I see dead people" Osment played Foxworthy's young son.

'Rob' (Rob Schneider)

Rob Schneider has enjoyed a good deal of success since his "SNL" days thanks to films like "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo" and "Grown-Ups." The stand-up got his own CBS show, "Rob," in January 2012, but it was canceled by May of the same year.

'All-American Girl' (Margaret Cho)

ABC's "All-American Girl" made history as the first US sitcom to feature a predominantly Asian American cast. Cho starred as Margaret Kim, a modern Korean American student who clashed with her traditional family. The show, which was supposed to be based on Cho's stand-up, ended up being criticized for its stereotyped characters and got canceled after one season.

'The Norm Show' (Norm MacDonald)

Norm Mac Donald played gambling, tax-evading ex-hockey player Norm Henderson in ABC's "The Norm Show" between 1999 and 2001. Laurie Metcalf, Nikki Cox, and Artie Lange co-starred.
